The Co-LABorate workshop, “Preserving and Transferring Indigenous Knowledge in a Digital World,” will convene global experts, leaders, and activists to explore key challenges and opportunities in preserving and sharing indigenous knowledge through digital innovation.

This event will officially launch and highlight selected insights from the Sustainable Global Supply Chains Report 2024 on “Decent Work in Global Supply Chains”.

The 29th webinar of the Franco-German Observatory of the Indo-Pacific, hosted by the CERI, features Dr Kelly A. Grieco of the Stimson Center in Washington. She will speak about the integration of defence Industries and US hegemony. Is an Indo-Pacific military-industrial complex in the making?

The Digital Development Dialogue (3D) seminar explores the gap between the promises and realities of global carbon markets focusing in particular on REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) projects within the voluntary carbon market. While nature-based solutions, particularly conservation projects under REDD+, constitute a significant share of carbon credits, their effectiveness and social impact have been widely debated.

On 17 February, 2025, GIGA intended to hold a “GIGA Talk” at our office in Berlin to discuss a recent report of the Quincy Institute on the prospects of multilateralism in a world of competing order narratives. At a time of growing power rivalry and diminished cohesion of international institutions, this issue is highly pertinent to multiple conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa and the future of the region.

Protests against the programme have forced us to postpone, as we feel unable to guarantee the security of the event and panel members. We intend to discuss the pertinent topics of the report at one of our future events.

We share the concerns of many protesters about the authoritarian government in Iran and its regional role, but neither the role of Iran or any other specific country was the topic of this event. We look forward to having these very important conversations at a later date.
