Natural Language Processing: Concepts and Applications

Date

05/11/2024

  • The workshop on Natural Language Processing (NLP) will cover the basic concepts of AI, machine learning, and deep learning, with a focus on NLP. We’ll briefly talk about how text is represented and processed with computational methods, and touch upon how large language models (LLMs) work. We'll then explore practical NLP applications such as named entity recognition, summarization, topic modeling, sentiment analysis, and more. Additionally, we'll discuss a few complementary tools and methods like gazetteers, databases, and graph representation.

This workshop serves as an introduction to the topic; no prior experience is required, but questions are very welcome. You do not need to bring a laptop – if practical workshops are of interest, they will take place at a later date.

    Dates

The course will take place in person at the GIGA in Hamburg on the 5th November 2024 from 9 am to 12.
