Concept Formation and Measurement - Examples from GIGA research

This short course focuses on the issues of concept formation and measurement with regards to GIGA’s research on regional powers. It addresses the challenge to conceptualise the rise of emerging powers against the backdrop of related contested concepts such as “region” and “hegemony” and how to assess different types of regional powers. Using concrete examples, the course further discusses how such a classification can be applied to investigate case studies.
