  • So Young Chang submitted her dissertation titled “Invisible Hands: The Policies and Non-Policies That Make Migrant Domestic Work Precarious“ at the University of Bielefeld. Congratulations!

    Jessica Gomes successfully defended her dissertation titled “The Formation of National Role Conceptions in Regional Institutions: The Case of Brazil in MERCOSUR and Germany in the EU“ Congratulations!

    Nils Lukacs successfully defended his dissertation titled “The Search for a New Beginning: Obama and the United States’ Legacy in the Middle East“ at the University of Hamburg. Congratulations!

    Désirée Reder is currently in Costa Rica conducting field work until the beginning of July. She is talking to Nicaraguan activists, journalists and opposition members, who had to leave Nicaragua due to the Repression. During her stay she is associated with the University of Costa Rica.

    Diba Mirzaei was invited to a panel by Haus Rissen, where she spoke about the role of Iran in the Middle East and the status of negotiations regarding the nuclear deal. Further information can be found here.

    Lukian De Boni will attend the China Observers in Central and Eastern Europe (CHOICE) Summer School on EU-China relations in Kutna Hora in the Czech Republicat the end of this month.

    Anna Fünfgeld participated in the CAS 2.0 authors workshop in April and contributed a chapter on CAS and interpretivism. Further information on the workshop can be found here.

    Jayane Maia attended the 2022 LASA virtual congress and presented the paper co-authored with two colleagues "Renewal or Stability: Party System Change in Brazil from a Subnational Perspective (2000-2020)" in the LASA Section Panel entitled 'Política multinivel en América Latina: dimensión territorial de la representación y nuevas discusiones teóricas'. She was also invited by Prof. Dr. Mariana Llanos to be a guest lecturer at the Willy Brandt School of PublicPolicy/Universität Erfurt where she taught the seminar 'Levels of government and decision-making: federalism and decentralization'.

    We welcome three new Visiting Doctoral Researchers: Theresa Bachmann from the University of Kent, who will stay with us from 1 May – 30 June 2022, Dilan Gunes from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, who will stay with us from 2 May to 10 June 2022 and Wael Khatib from Radboud University, who will stay with us from 17 May to 30 June 2022.
