Surviving Complexity: How International Organizations Claim Legitimacy Under Conditions of Institutional Overlap. The Case of the African Union
Caught in an endless cycle of engagement–suspicion–decline, the EU–Arab League relationship, now fractured anew by the Gaza crisis, requires deeper engagement and collaboration, extending beyond traditional security concerns, to break the existing cycle and profoundly reshape diplomatic realities.
The failure of the latest talks over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam has intensified tensions between Ethiopia and downstream states Egypt and Sudan, and challenged traditional dynamics in the Nile River Basin. The authors explain the political stalemate based on three key factors.
