German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier will inaugurate the practitioners’ part of the GIGA Distinguished Speaker Lecture Series on 27 June at Hamburg City Hall. The focus of his lecture will be Germany’s foreign policy role against the backdrop of current challenges and crises as well as the rise of key emerging economies. How can Germany contribute to solving conflicts? How can the country strengthen its partnerships with new global political actors in order to develop effective solutions to global challenges? And what contributions will Germany make to the changing international order in future – above all at the United Nations? Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier will provide insights on these questions in his talk “Breaches and Bridges – German Foreign Policy in Turbulent Times.”
Frank-Walter Steinmeier (SPD) is a member of the German Bundestag and has been the federal foreign minister since December 2013. He previously held this office from 2005 to 2009.
