GIGA Forum
07/11/2022
03:00 p.m. (CET)
04:30 p.m. (CET)
The G20 summit in Bali in November 2022 will be one of the few occasions on which leaders of an increasingly divided world come together in dialogue. In the wake of the looming “Great Power” competition between Russia and China on the one side and “the West” on the other, “emerging” powers are seeking to assert their own geopolitical status.
This GIGA Forum focuses on the foreign policies of three such powers: India, Turkey, and Indonesia. Our experts will investigate the domestic roots and the consequences of their status-seeking strategies, and their respective abilities to help shape a changing global order.
Speakers: Dr. Sharinee Jagtiani is a Visiting Fellow at the GIGA Institute for Asian Studies.
Dr. Clemens Hoffmann is a Lecturer in International Politics at the Division of History, Heritage and Politics at the University of Stirling, Scotland.
Dr. Evan A. Laksmana is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre on Asia and Globalisation at the National University of Singapore.
Moderator: Dr. Miriam Prys-Hansen is Lead Research Fellow at the GIGA Institute for Asian Studies and Head of the GIGA’s Research Programme “Global Orders and Foreign Policies.”
