  • With the world in disarray, we are seeking for innovative approaches to the question on how a reformed rules-based international order should look like to assure a prosperous and secure future. We would like to present to you and discuss current must-reads of political analysis and commentary.

The GIGA is proud to bring you the authors of New World Disorder and the Indian Imperative. The book offers an incisive analysis of the state of the world today and the historic roots of the latest developments. It outlines the role that India could play on the global stage to form our future. It presents a clear vision of an equitable ethic for a new international order. Dr. Shashi Tharoor and Dr. Samir Saran, two of the most influential thinkers and shapers of policy for India and far beyond, have joined forces on this ambitious and promising global agenda.

Dr. Shashi Tharoor is a third-term Lok Sabha Member of Parliament, he has previously served as Minister of State for Human Resource Development and Minister of State for External Affairs in the Government of India. He chairs the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology. Before, for nearly 30 years at the United Nations, Tharoor has worked as a peacekeeper, refugee worker, and administrator, serving as Under-Secretary General during Kofi Annan’s leadership of the organisation. Additionally to a broad spectrum of academic and political accolades, Tharoor is an award-winning author of twenty books of both fiction as well as non-fiction.

Dr. Samir Saran is the President of Observer Research Foundation (ORF), one of Asia’s most important think tanks. He curates the Raisina Dialogue, India’s annual flagship platform on geopolitics and geo-economics, and chairs CyFy, India’s annual conference on cybersecurity and internet governance. He spearheads the foundation’s efforts to foster new international partnerships and globalise its platforms. Saran is also a Commissioner of The Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace, a member of the Regional Stewardship Board of the World Economic Forum, and a part of its Global Future Council on Geopolitics.
