Qualitative Interviews

Date

11/06/2025 - 12/06/2025

  • Qualitative interviews are a widely used research method in political and social studies, but they can risk misrepresentation and under-theorization if not approached correctly. This two-day course aims to provide a deep understanding of the theoretical foundations of qualitative interviews, as well as practical training in interview design, data collection, and management.

The course will cover key topics such as the theoretical underpinnings and philosophical assumptions of qualitative interviews, ethical considerations in interview research, and the role of the interviewer's socio-demographic characteristics in the data generation process. Participants will gain insight into how to design effective interview guides, frame questions, and think strategically about their inquiry methods.

The course will also provide practical exercises for developing and refining interview skills, as well as managing and analyzing interview data. Participants will reflect critically on the strengths, limitations, and scientific criteria of interview research.

    Dates & Times:

The training will take place online, on 11-12 June 2025, from 10:00 to 16:00 (both days).

This course is GIGA internal only.
