QCA Para Iniciantes: Fundamentos da Análise Comparativa Qualitativa

Conexão Política | 2022

  • Abstract

This paper aims to introduce the QCA (Qualitative Comparative Analysis)
method for studies in the social sciences. It starts with a conceptual discussion
of the comparative method covering the QCA, its characteristics, and operating
logic; then, we present its typologies and its three main variations: Crisp-Set QCA,
Multivariate QCA, and Fuzzy-Set QCA. Based on their typologies, we approach
different inference and validation strategies for comparative research, and, finally,
the limits and precautions to be taken when using this technique.
