Tanzanische Stabilität: Die alte Staatspartei gewinnt erneut

Am 21. Dezember 2005 wurde Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete als erst vierter Staatspräsident der Vereinigten Republik Tanzania vereidigt.

Analyse:

Die seit 1961 regierende CCM (Chama cha Mapinduzi – Partei der Revolution) hat bei den seit 1995 dritten Mehrparteienwahlen ihre absolute Mehrheit mit einem überwältigenden Wahlsieg weiter ausbauen können.

• Trotz anhaltend großer sozialer und ökonomischer Probleme hat damit die Bevölkerung den schon über vier Jahrzehnte herrschenden politischen Kräften erneut ein deutliches Vertrauen ausgesprochen.

• Der Grund für die Dominanz der CCM liegt zum einen in der anhaltenden Schwäche der Opposition und zum anderen in der vergleichsweise guten gesellschaftlichen Verankerung der alten Staatspartei, wie es kaum einer anderen Partei auf dem Kontinent gelungen ist.

• Das Wahlergebnis unterstreicht den Ruf Tanzanias als außergewöhnlicher Hort der sozialen und politischen Stabilität in einem von Unsicherheit und plötzlichen Umbrüchen geprägten afrikanischen Umfeld.
