Politics Meets Science at "Leibniz in the Bundestag"

The GIGA’s extensive range of policy advice includes an exchange with members of the Bundestag once a year as part of “Leibniz in the Bundestag.” In 2021, 25 of our scientists will offer their expertise to Germany’s politicians in an advisory capacity.

In one-on-one discussions, six GIGA scientists will address the individual questions of the guests of “Book a Scientist” 2021, an event organised by the Leibniz Association.

In individual “Book a scientist” sessions, organised by the Leibniz Association, GIGA experts Prof. Dr. Merike Blofield and Prof. Dr. Eckart Woertz address participants’ specific questions.

GIGA researchers are sought-after experts among decision-makers from Germany’s executive branch – especially the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and the Office of the Federal President.

Located in the heart of the German capital, the GIGA Berlin Office is dedicated to knowledge exchange with political, civil society, academic, and media institutions based there.

As part of the political-consultation format “Leibniz in the Bundestag,” researchers from the Leibniz Association exchange views with members of the German parliament. This year, GIGA researchers will offer talks on current foreign policy issues.

On 10 November 2021 interested parties will have the opportunity to engage in exclusive online conversations with GIGA researchers on the topics of militarisation, the New Silk Road, sustainable food consumption, and international sanctions.
