Regionalism under stress – toward fragmentation and disintegration?

The purpose of the conference is to assess current challenges to regional integration and cooperation processes in comparative perspective, focusing on (but not limited to) the European and Latin American experience. It aims to bring together scholars from the fields of political science, international relations, international law, and international political economy. The conference will take place at the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil, from 25 to 27 September 2017. The conference will give continuity to a series of events on European integration, titled “Jornadas Europeias” (European Days), which took place over the past few years at USP’s Faculty of Law on the initiative of the DAAD Lecturer for International and European Law and the Martius Chair for German and European Studies, a DAAD Visiting Professorship at USP. This year, the conference will be jointly organized by the Martius Chairand the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) and funded by GIGA and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
