  • The world is undergoing major power transitions today. International negotiations are repeatedly running into deadlocks and crises. Can the rising powers help in building a more inclusive and effective new global order? And what are the relevant normative concepts for such an order? Professor Rainer Forst and Professor Amrita Narlikar will explore the shared agendas and deal-breakers between key actors as different visions and views of global order interact with each other.

Amrita Narlikar is the President of the GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies, and Professor at the University of Hamburg. Prior to taking up this appointment, she was Reader in International Political Economy at the University of Cambridge, and the Founding Director of the Centre for Rising Powers.

Rainer Forst is Speaker of the Cluster of Excellence "Normative Orders" and Professor of Political Theory and Philosophy at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main.

Seating is limited. Please register with us to avoid disappointment: [email protected]. Admission is free.

The series of talks titled "Leibniz debates" will focus on the challenges and issues of our time. It is part of the "best of all possible worlds" themed year with which the Leibniz Association is commemorating the 370th anniversary of the birth of, and 300th anniversary of the death of, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz in 2016.
