After Russia invaded Ukraine, Germany increased its military spending substantially. Wary of the crisis closer to home, Berlin might not be able to play its role in providing security to other parts of the world.

Präsident Raisi bemüht sich um die Revitalisierung der revolutionären Werte der Islamischen Republik. Weil die Regierung auf sozioökonomische Unzufriedenheit direkt mit Repression reagiert, implementiert sie zudem Maßnahmen, die durch den "dschihadistischen" Stil der sich revolutionär gebenden Elite geprägt ist.

Die politischen Entscheidungsträger:innen sind sich einig, dass die „regelbasierte Ordnung“ in der neu ausgeprägten „Indo-Pazifik“-Region erhalten werden muss. Es ist jedoch nicht klar, was genau zu bewahren ist und warum die umstrittenen Begriffe schnell Eingang in die politischen Debatten gefunden haben. Eine Analyse.

Marinepräsenz hat bei der Implementierung von Indo-Pazifik Strategien eine zentrale Rolle eingenommen. Wie nun aber die Reise der Fregatte „Bayern“ offenbart, weisen die deutsche und andere europäische Strategien innere Widersprüche auf, welche durch das Schlagwort der „regelbasierten Ordnung“ überdeckt werden.
