This short course addresses principles of research design and practice by looking at a concrete example of GIGA research. Focusing on a project on Australian and New Zealand recalibrations of China-related policy, the course illustrates how the project’s research question has been developed and how it is going to be answered. It discusses the project’s comparative perspective and choice of methods considering related challenges and how this particular research strategy affects the results.
