GIGA Training
14.06.2016 - 15.06.2016
Presenting ideas or projects is an essential part in any academic career and involves situations in which the audience might consist of well-known colleagues as well as an intersected audience. The workshop builds on the participants experience and offers insights from psychology as well as practical advice on how not only to survive a presentation but rather create an atmosphere while interacting with the audience. The subject will be dealt with both on a theoretical and practical level: Every participant is invited to take the stage to be video recorded and receive valuable feedback both from the trainer and the fellows. Day two of the workshop focuses on your role in leading or chairing meetings at your institute or at a conference. We will discuss and test the role of the moderator in mastering tasks of facilitating the discussion, allowing the audience to actively interact while sticking to rules and time constraints. As on day 1 there will be room for practical tests to receive feedback: The aim of the workshop is not to limit your ideas on moderation but to comfort what you find is important in mastering the task.
