A well-thought-out research design is the key to successfully conducting your own research to generate valid data and draw trustworthy conclusions. Taken together, this is a necessary condition for successful publication in double-blind peer-reviewed outlets. Taking examples from the DFG-funded project „COVID-19 and Executive Personalization in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Latin America and the MENA Region“ which is conducted at the GIGA, this course discusses the most relevant steps in generating a convincing research design: Conducting a literature research; Identifying research gaps; (Re)formulating research questions; Choosing a theoretical concept; Operationalization and selection of indicators; Collecting data; Analysing the data; Drawing conclusions; Writing manuscripts.
Dates
The course will take place in person at GIGA Hamburg from 11am to 1pm on 19th January 2023 (hybrid option depending on demand).
