The China shock and the ensuing the soy boom in Brazil have fueled land consolidation and inequality in Brazilian municipalities. Income gains have been mostly limited to the top deciles of the distribution. Additionally, the more unequal a municipality, the more deforestation and rural conflict increase as soy expands.
